Common Questions
The Questions Homeowners Actually Ask Us
Do I need new siding, or can this be repaired?
If the trouble is in one spot, a few cracked boards or one storm-hit wall, a repair is usually the smarter, cheaper move. It tips toward replacement when the fading and warping are everywhere, when you find soft spots or moisture behind the panels, or when the siding has simply aged out. We’ll walk it with you and call it honestly either way. Book a free inspection and we’ll show you what we see.
Which siding material is right for a Mid-Missouri home?
Depends on what you’re after, and we’ll talk it through. Fiber cement like James Hardie is the durability champion: fire, pests, and rot don’t faze it. Vinyl wins on price and low upkeep. Engineered wood like LP SmartSide splits the difference with real wood character and modern weather resistance. There’s no universal “best,” only the best fit for your house and how long you’re staying.
Is James Hardie fiber cement worth paying more for?
For a lot of folks here, it is. It handles our freeze-thaw whiplash, summer heat, hail, and bugs better than just about anything, holds its color, and can run 50 years or more with little fuss. Yes, it costs more than vinyl up front, but you may never reside the house again, and it tends to pay back at resale. As an Elite Preferred installer, we can also extend James Hardie’s best warranty coverage.
Will insurance pay for my siding?
If a covered event did it, hail, high wind, or flying debris, your policy likely covers replacement minus the deductible. The two things that trip people up are documentation and timing. Most policies want the claim filed within a set window of the damage, so check yours. We’ve walked hundreds of Mid-Missouri homeowners through it: we meet the adjuster, flag damage that’s easy to miss, and push for a fair outcome.
Can hail really hurt siding?
It can, and it’s sneaky. Hail cracks, chips, or punches vinyl and leaves dents and fractures in other materials, often with nothing you’d catch from the yard. Once the surface is broken, water has a way in. After a serious storm, the safe play is a free look within a few days.
How long will the job take?
Most homes run from a few days to about a week, depending on size, the material, and what we find behind the old siding once it’s off. Weather’s the wild card in Mid-Missouri, so we keep an eye on the forecast and give you a real timeline at the consultation.
What happens to my old siding?
On a full replacement we strip it, haul it off, dispose of it responsibly, and prep the wall, moisture barrier and any repairs included, before the new siding goes up. No pile left in the driveway.
Can I finance it?
Yes. New siding is a real investment and we treat it that way. Terms run from 12 months up to 10 years, some at 0% interest. We’ll lay out the numbers at your consultation so you can pick what fits, no pressure either direction.
How do I know a siding contractor is the real deal?
Look for a solid local history, current license and insurance, and manufacturer certifications that prove they’re trained on what they’re installing. Read the reviews, ask for references, and make sure they’ll still be around in ten years. For what it’s worth, we’ve been right here since 2010.
Something’s not right after you finish, then what?
You call us. That’s the whole process. Our Limited Lifetime Workmanship Warranty covers the install, the manufacturer warranty covers the material, and if anything’s off we come back and fix it. Straight to us at (573) 424-9008.
