Mid-Missouri’s Outdoor Living Builders

Your Backyard Has Potential. Let’s Build On It.

A deck is where Mid-Missouri summers actually happen: morning coffee, weekend grilling, the kids running in and out until dark. For over 15 years, we’ve designed and built decks that hold up to our weather and get used hard for decades.

Not Sure Your Deck Is Still Safe to Stand On?

Wobbly railings, soft boards, and rusted fasteners are easy to ignore until someone leans on the wrong spot. Freeze-thaw winters and humid summers wear a deck from the inside out, and the structural parts you can’t see are usually the first to go. Before grilling season or a big gathering, let us take a look. Free inspection, honest answer on whether it needs a repair, a board swap, or a full rebuild.

A Deck Is Supposed to Be the Easy Part of Owning a Home. Yours Shouldn’t Feel Like a Chore.

Most people don’t think much about their deck until it starts demanding attention. The stain is peeling again. A board flexes when you step on it. The railing has a little give that wasn’t there last year. Or maybe the deck is fine and the problem is that it was never built for how you actually want to live: too small for a table and a grill, no shade, awkward steps down to the yard.

Then there’s the planning side, which stops a lot of projects before they start. Composite or wood? How big? Will it need a permit? Who do you even trust to build something that’s bolted to your house and holds your whole family at a cookout?

  • A deck that flexes, wobbles, or feels unsafe underfoot
  • Splintering, graying, or rotting boards that need constant attention
  • Endless summers of sanding, staining, and resealing
  • A layout that’s too small or awkward for how you want to use it
  • Not knowing whether to repair what you have or start fresh

You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out First

Part of our job is the design conversation, not just the build. We’ll talk through how you actually use your yard, what your house can structurally support, and what fits your budget, then put real options in front of you.

“We just want a deck that’s safe, that we’ll actually use, and that we’re not refinishing every single summer.”

That’s the want we hear most, and it’s a completely reasonable one. We’ll walk your space, measure, explain the tradeoffs between materials in plain language, and give you a clear plan. No pressure to upsize, no pressure to decide on the spot.

We’ve Spent 15 Years Earning Trust. Here’s the Proof.

New Build or Tired Deck, We Handle the Whole Thing

Whether you’re starting from an empty backyard or working with a deck that’s seen better days, here’s how we help.

01

New Deck Design & Build

We start with how you want to use the space, then design and build a deck that fits your home, your yard, and your budget. Single level, multi-level, wraparound, or attached to an existing patio.

02

Deck Replacement

When the structure is past saving, we tear out the old deck and rebuild it right, often upgrading you to a lower-maintenance material in the process so you’re not back here in another decade.

03

Deck Repair & Restoration

Loose railings, soft boards, popped fasteners, and failing stairs. We fix the safety issues and bring tired decks back to life without the cost of a full rebuild when the bones are still good.

04

Deck Inspection & Safety Checks

A straightforward look at the structure, ledger connection, railings, and fasteners so you know whether your deck is safe and what, if anything, it needs. Free and no obligation.

Composite or Wood: We Build Both, and We’ll Tell You Which Fits

The material you choose sets your maintenance, your budget, and your look for the next 20 years. Here’s the honest breakdown for Mid-Missouri conditions.

Composite Decking

Capped composite resists fading, staining, and the splintering that plagues wood in our humidity. No sanding, no staining, just an occasional wash. Higher upfront cost, far less work over its life, and color that holds. The popular choice for homeowners who want to use the deck, not maintain it.

Wood Decking

ressure-treated pine and cedar bring natural warmth and a lower starting price, with the flexibility to customize and stain to match your home. Wood asks for regular sealing and upkeep to handle Missouri‘s freeze-thaw and summer sun, and we’ll be upfront about what that maintenance really involves before you choose it.

Composite brands we install

No Surprises, No Runaround. Here’s Exactly How Your Deck Gets Built.

We’ve completed 22,000+ exterior projects across Mid-Missouri. You’ll know what’s happening at every step and why.

1

Design & Inspection

We walk your space, measure, and talk through how you want to use it. If we’re replacing an existing deck, we inspect the structure first. You get a clear design direction and an honest read on your options. Free, no obligation.

2

Recommendation & Quote

We lay out material choices, layout options, and a line-item quote in plain language, including whether a permit is needed and how it factors into the timeline. You decide what fits your budget and how you live.

3

Permitting & Build

We pull the required local permits and build to code, starting with a sound structure and finishing with the surface and railings. Most residential decks are completed in one to two weeks depending on size and complexity.

4

Walkthrough & Follow-Up

We walk the finished deck with you, cover care and maintenance for your material, and stand behind the work. If something isn’t right, you call us directly.

Straight Answers to the Deck Questions We Hear Most

Neither is “better,” they’re different trades. Composite costs more upfront but skips the yearly sanding, staining, and sealing, and it holds up well to our humidity without splintering or rotting. Wood costs less to start, looks and feels natural, and can be stained to any color, but it needs regular upkeep to survive freeze-thaw winters and hot summers. If your priority is low maintenance and long-term value, composite usually wins. If it’s budget and a natural look, wood makes sense.

In most local jurisdictions, yes. Decks attached to the home and above a certain height almost always require a permit and an inspection, and requirements vary between Columbia, Jefferson City, and the surrounding towns. We handle the permitting as part of the project so you don’t have to chase down your local building department.

Most residential decks take one to two weeks once permits are in hand and materials are on site. A simple ground-level deck can go faster; a large multi-level deck with built-in features takes longer. Weather is the main variable in Mid-Missouri, and we’ll give you a specific timeline at your consultation.

It comes down to the structure. If the framing, posts, and ledger board (where the deck attaches to your house) are sound, we can usually repair the surface, railings, and stairs. If there’s widespread rot, a failing ledger connection, or the deck flexes and sways, replacement is the safer long-term investment. We’ll show you exactly what we find at a free inspection and tell you honestly which one your deck needs.

A deck is one of the more reliable home improvements for return on investment, and it adds usable square footage you’ll actually live in. Beyond resale value, a well-built deck is the difference between a backyard you look at and one you use all season. We’ll break down the numbers so you can weigh it for your situation.

That depends entirely on material. Composite needs an occasional wash and little else. Wood needs cleaning and resealing every year or two to stay protected against Missouri’s weather. We’ll go over realistic upkeep for whichever material you choose so there are no surprises after the build.

You call us. We’ve been in Mid-Missouri since 2010 and we’re not going anywhere. We stand behind our workmanship, and if there’s an issue with the build, we come back and make it right.
