The team reached back promptly and went above and beyond to help me with my inquiry, saving me some money in the process. That level of post-sale care, when they don't need to do anything for you anymore and they still do the thing. That makes me brand loyal. Thanks for your help! I've worked with this company twice, the first time they moved really quickly, completed work within a month from starting. I give them a 5/5 on that work. This second time around we started the quote back in May of 2023, and they completed work on the last week of April of 2024. they get a 1/5 on that one. I understand the storms of last year caused a backlog across the whole industry, and if I had been given a clear timeframe from the beginning I could have decided to either stay with them or go another route. When I was first given an estimate, the goal from our contact there was to be done in 2 months tops, and now I'm finishing this review about a year later as work has been completed and paid. If you have no timeframe for completion, CoMo Premium Exteriors is going to do quality work on your property, and I cannot fault any of the labor that was conducted, but for me, with an insurance claim due to weather with a company that entered receivership, I was very clear in telling them on multiple emails, texts and phone calls, I need this work completed quickly so I can recover depreciation and adjustments before the receivership is done by end of December. These delays are going to cause me to be out of pocket for a long time until the State regulators can close the claim.

Why is fiber cement a good fit for this region specifically?

Mid-Missouri throws nearly every siding stressor at a house: hail, high humidity, hard freezes, intense summer sun, and the occasional severe wind event. Fiber cement is dimensionally stable through temperature swings, doesn’t absorb moisture the way wood does, can’t be eaten by termites or carpenter bees, and is noncombustible. James Hardie also engineers its boards by climate zone, so the product we install here is formulated for Midwest conditions rather than a single national recipe.

My house is older. Can fiber cement keep its historic character?

Usually, yes. Lap profiles come in widths and textures that closely match original clapboard, and shake and board-and-batten profiles cover most traditional details. Many owners of older homes in towns like Boonville and Fulton choose fiber cement precisely because it preserves the look while ending the scrape-and-repaint cycle. Can you replace siding on just one wall or section?

Yes. Sun-facing and weather-facing walls often fail years before the rest of the house, and a single-wall replacement is a legitimate project. The honest trade-off is color: new panels won’t perfectly match siding that’s weathered for 15 years. Is fiber cement heavy enough to need special framing?

No. It’s heavier than vinyl per board, which is part of why it stays put in high wind, but standard residential framing handles it without modification. The weight matters mainly for installation: boards must be handled, cut, and fastened correctly, which is one more reason certified crews make a difference.

What maintenance does fiber cement actually need?

Very little, but not zero. An occasional rinse to remove dirt, a visual check of caulk joints around windows and trim every year or two, and a repaint somewhere down the road, often 15+ years out with factory-finished color. Compare that to wood’s 5-to-7-year repaint cycle and the difference over a few decades is substantial.

Will insurance pay for fiber cement if my old siding was storm damaged?

If a storm damaged your existing siding, your policy generally covers replacement of like kind and quality, minus your deductible. If you want to upgrade from vinyl or wood to fiber cement, you typically pay the difference between the covered amount and the upgrade. We document damage, meet adjusters on-site, and break those numbers down clearly so you know your exact out-of-pocket before deciding.
