Columbia’s James Hardie Elite Preferred Installer

Fiber Cement Looks Like Wood, Lasts Like Stone. If It’s Installed Right.

Fiber cement is the siding that shrugs off Missouri hail, woodpeckers, and humidity, and it can hold its color for decades. But it’s also the least forgiving material to install. We’re an Elite Preferred James Hardie contractor serving Columbia, which means factory-trained crews and warranties most installers can’t offer.

Just Had a Storm Roll Through Mid-Missouri?

Whether it was hail, high winds, or a tornado touched down nearby — don’t wait to see if your roof held up. We offer free inspections, and we’ll meet your insurance adjuster on-site to make sure nothing gets missed.

Siding Doesn’t Fail Overnight. It Fades, Cracks, and Lets Water In a Little at a Time.

Roof problems announce themselves with a leak. Siding problems are quieter. In Columbia, the freeze-thaw cycles, summer humidity, and wind-driven rain work on your home’s exterior season after season. Paint chalks, caulk joints open up around windows, and moisture starts finding its way behind the panels long before anything looks dramatic from the street.

By the time you’re noticing it every time you pull into the driveway, the question isn’t just cosmetic anymore. It’s what’s happening to the sheathing underneath.

  • Paint that fades or chalks a few years after every repaint
  • Wood siding with soft spots, rot, or woodpecker holes
  • Vinyl that’s cracked, warped, or rattles in high wind
  • Caulk gaps around windows and trim letting water behind the siding
  • A home that looks tired next to the newer houses on the block

You Don’t Need to Become a Siding Expert. That’s Our Job.

Fiber cement, engineered wood, vinyl, composite: every contractor has an opinion, and most of them are selling whichever one they stock. You deserve a straight explanation of what each material actually does in Mid-Missouri weather, and what it costs over 30 years, not just at install.

“We don’t want the cheapest siding. We want to do this once and not think about it again.”

That’s what Columbia homeowners tell us at almost every consultation, and it’s exactly where fiber cement earns its keep. It won’t rot, pests can’t eat it, fire can’t ignite it, and factory-baked color finishes can go 15+ years before repainting.

We’ll walk your home, show you what we see, and explain whether fiber cement makes sense for your house and budget. If a different material fits better, we’ll tell you that too.

We’ve Spent 15 Years Earning Trust. Here’s the Proof.

From One Cracked Panel to a Whole-Home Transformation.

Here’s how we handle fiber cement in Columbia, whatever stage you’re at.

01

New Fiber Cement Installation

Full installation on new construction or additions: weather barrier, flashing, panels, and trim, all to James Hardie’s published specifications so your warranty starts on solid ground.

02

Siding Replacement

We tear off your old wood or vinyl, inspect the sheathing underneath, fix what we find, and rebuild the wall system properly before a single new panel goes up.

03

Fiber Cement Repair

Cracked panels, chipped corners, failed caulk joints, or storm damage. We match profiles and colors so the repair disappears instead of advertising itself.

04

Trim, Soffit & Fascia

The details that finish the look and keep water out. We install fiber cement trim and soffit systems that match your siding and seal the most vulnerable points of your exterior.

One Material, Three Very Different Looks.

Fiber cement comes in profiles that suit everything from a 1920s bungalow near downtown Columbia to a new build in south Columbia. Here’s what we install.

Lap Siding

The classic horizontal plank. Clean lines, deep shadow, and the look of painted wood without the repainting schedule. The most popular profile in Mid-Missouri for good reason.

Board and Batten

Vertical panels with raised battens for a farmhouse or modern look. Often used on gables and accent walls to break up a long facade.

Shake & Shingle

The texture of cedar shakes with none of the rot, splitting, or insect appetite. A natural fit for gables, dormers, and craftsman-style homes.

Compare All Types

No Surprises. No Runaround. Here’s Exactly What Happens.

We’ve done this 22,000+ times. You’ll know what’s happening at every step and why.

1

Inspection

We walk your exterior, check the siding, trim, caulk joints, and flashing, photograph everything, and show you what we found. Free, no obligation, no pressure.

2

Recommendation

We lay out your options in plain language: repair vs. replace, fiber cement vs. alternatives, profile and color choices, and real numbers for each path. You decide.

3

Installation

Factory-trained crews install to James Hardie specifications: correct clearances, flashing, fastening, and joint treatment. Most homes take about a week, and we clean up every day.

4

Warranty & Follow-Up

You get the manufacturer warranty backed by a certified install, plus our workmanship warranty. If anything’s not right, you call us directly and we make it right.

Straight Answers About Fiber Cement Siding

It’s a mix of cement, sand, and cellulose fibers pressed into planks and panels that mimic wood grain or smooth finishes. The result is a siding that doesn’t rot, doesn’t feed termites or woodpeckers, won’t melt or ignite, and holds paint far longer than wood. James Hardie is the brand most homeowners know, and it’s the fiber cement line we install.

Better than almost anything else on the wall. It’s dimensionally stable through our freeze-thaw swings, so it doesn’t expand and contract the way vinyl does, and it resists hail impact better than vinyl or wood. James Hardie even formulates products by climate zone, so the boards installed in Columbia are engineered for Midwest humidity and temperature swings rather than a one-size national spec.

It costs more upfront, and we won’t pretend otherwise. The value shows up over decades: longer lifespan, better hail and fire resistance, higher resale appeal, and repaint cycles measured in 15+ year stretches instead of 5 to 7. If you plan to stay in your home or care about long-term value, the math usually favors fiber cement. If budget is the deciding factor, vinyl is a legitimate option and we install that too.

Because most fiber cement failures are installation failures. The material needs specific clearances from roofs and ground, proper flashing at every joint and penetration, and correct nailing. Get those wrong and panels crack or wick moisture, and the manufacturer can deny warranty claims on workmanship grounds. That’s the whole point of the Elite Preferred program: James Hardie trains and audits contractors so the warranty you’re paying for actually applies.

Eventually, but not often. Factory-finished boards with baked-on color carry a 15-year finish warranty and resist fading dramatically better than field-painted wood. Field-painted fiber cement holds paint well too, because the board doesn’t expand, contract, and crack the paint film the way wood does. Most homeowners get 15 to 20 years between repaints.

Severe hail can chip and crack fiber cement, especially at panel edges and corners, even though it resists impact better than vinyl. If a storm caused the damage, your homeowner’s policy likely covers it, minus your deductible. We document the damage, meet your adjuster on-site, and advocate for fair scope.

For a typical Columbia home, plan on roughly 1 to 2 weeks from tear-off to final trim, depending on home size, repairs needed under the old siding, and weather. We’ll give you a specific timeline during your consultation and keep you posted daily once we start.

Yes. New siding is a real investment, and we offer flexible financing with multiple term lengths that can also be stacked with an insurance claim. We’ll walk through the numbers during your consultation so you can pick what fits your budget.
