Get your Home Ready for Winter
10 things you need to do to get your home ready for winter
1- Check your windows to make sure they are sealed. One way to check this is by lighting a candle and holding it close to the window, if the light flickers that means there is a leak around the window.
2- Remove all debris from any exterior drainage system.
3- Remove all hoses from exterior faucets.
4- Reverse your ceiling fans and put in winter mode. They should turn clock wise.
5- Make sure your attic, water pipes and water heater are properly insulated.
6- Clean your gutters and downspouts out and make sure they are pitched correctly to drain water.
7- Inspect siding to make sure there are no cracks or holes in the siding.
8- Inspect your roof, make sure there are no missing or cracked shingles.
9- Check your roof for debris and clean any debris build up, check any flashing on the roof and make sure they are not loose and sealed.
10 – Make sure your roof has proper ventilation.
